Farmhand Competition
Try your hand at farm life and combat couch laziness! Compete against each other in old-fashioned village manners and find the best farmhands. Participants are divided into teams. Competitions can include chimney stacking, horseshoe throwing, water carrying with a yoke, going to Iceland for herring, putting cows out to pasture, and other rural competitions. The best farmhands are chosen as winners.
Grain, Mill, and Pancakes
"You have to work for your food," says an old proverb. Here it is meant literally. Before the pancakes can be eaten, the grain must be ground into flour on the grain mill. The flour must be sifted, and the pancake batter prepared. The wood stove or the saving stove must be lit with kindling, briquettes, and wood. Perhaps wood needs to be sawed and split for the stoves. Finally, the pancakes can be baked on the wood stove's fire.
Experience Center Nyvang is home to a rich animal life. We have many farm animals in the village, all of which enjoy visitors.
Rabbits: As you pass through our Welcome Center, you will first arrive at our activity area. Here you will find a fine enclosure with our rabbits, living in small half-timbered houses in the shade of a large tree. There are ladders over the enclosure so you can visit and pet the rabbits.
Pigs: At the Smallholder's Place, a large sow lives, and in spring she often has piglets she takes care of. We also have a pig pen located in a small hidden opening in the forest between the Forest House and the Main House. See if you can find the small grass path to the pigs.
Cows: At the Smallholder's Place, you will also find the smallholder's cows, grazing in the field.
Goats: Along the gravel road to the Smallholder's Place, you will find the goat pen. Here, it is also possible to climb a ladder over the pen so you can go in and pet the goats.
Chickens: Next to the Smallholder's Place vegetable garden, you will find chicken coops and enclosures with the smallholder's chickens.
Horses: The horses at Nyvang are always in the company of our coachman and a horse-drawn carriage during opening hours. You can see the beautiful horses on their tour around the village as they transport guests and residents from one part of Nyvang to another.
At the roundabout in front of the Proprietor's Farm, you will find soapbox cars, stilts, and wheelbarrows.
